| SOLID WASTE ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY (SWAT) SELECT COMMITTEE – TERMS OF REFERENCE | ||||||
| The select committee received a presentation from staff on the solid waste management plan and the various programs and costs associated with the Comox Strathcona Waste Management system. The overall waste composition study results were considered and the committee recognized the potential opportunities that can be realized by increasing diversion rates for a variety of waste types. The committee recognized that it continues to have an interest in understanding the composition of waste and exploring how improvements can be made to the system. The committee members acknowledge a common goal that is to landfill the least amount of solid waste in the most efficient, practical and environmentally responsible methods.
